Player Market

An example of an infobox on this wiki, with Player Market value highlighted.

The Player Market is the term given to the economy that is based on the transactions and exchanges between players of Oberin. Many items are not sold in any stores, and are instead sold by players to other players. As such, the price is not set and varies from trade to trade. However, some prices remain relatively consistent across a great number of trades, and thus a rough estimate of a "Player Market price" can be formed. Player Market trades can come about informally at the bank or after a hunt, but they are most often initiated and discussed over the forum or Discord. Players will often put up their own "shop" on the forums, allowing them to conduct a great number of trades all in one place.

When someone refers to the 'player market' price of an item, they are referring to the generally accepted amount of Gold Pieces that one can use to buy that item. For example, a Medium Protection Ring is not sold in any widely available store, but they can be bought on the player market for around 150-200K Gold Pieces. It is worth noting, however, that some players will refuse to accept GP as payment, preferring instead that they receive a resource such as Logs or Ferrite. In these cases, the Player Market price is still a useful figure, as it can be used as a reference.

Over the years, several players have attempted to maintain a list of Player Market prices, and these lists have been useful as they are ephemeral. An outdated but still somewhat accurate list of Player Market prices can be found at this page on the Dragon's Gate website. Another well-known list was once kept by viGilante, but it has long since disappeared with the loss of the original forums.

Currently, many individual articles on this wiki give the estimated Player Market price of an item, and thus another list could be maintained here if all of these estimations were gathered together.
