Armor is a category of items that can be worn by characters to protect them in combat by reducing the amount of damage taken. Armor can be worn on the chest, hands, arms, legs, and head. Some character classes add further to their armor with the use of shields.

Robes are the least resilient type of armor, but they can bear abilities such as magic resistance which can be better for some situations than a straight armor rating. They use the chest and leg slots on your character. Nonmagical robes are usually worn for looks, like clothing, and can be made by the Tailoring skill. At extremely high levels of Tailoring, one can craft Robes of Resistance and Robes of Protection using one of two rare ingredients - a Nevia Flower or Merfolk Hair.

Leather Armor can be made with the Tailoring skill upon reaching certain levels.

Chain, Plate, and Black Plate Armor can be made with the Blacksmithing skill.

Clerics, Druids, and Wizards cannot use their Magery when wearing metal armor. Wizards cannot use their Magery with Leather Armor, either, so they are the one class that is restricted to Robes of Protection. Fighters and Rangers almost universally wear Plate or Black Plate Armor. Rogues will find that most armor restricts the number of steps they may take using the Stealth skill. This trend varies, depending on both the piece of armor and the type of armor being used. The way to find out if a kind of Armor is metal, or not, is to find a local Rust Beast.
